Oil Level
The Oil Level feature shows the current volume of oil in the vehicle and notifies the driver when the level is outside of the recommended operating range. Instead of exiting the vehicle and accessing the engine compartment to check a physical dipstick, you can get this information from the Vehicle Status app.
Oil Level differs from Oil Life because it shows oil volume rather than its quality reading and does not need to be reset after each oil change. Alerts from the Oil Level suggest adding or draining existing oil, rather than performing an oil change.
Accessing Oil Level:
Open the Vehicle Status app on your vehicle's center display and you may see a 3D rendering of your vehicle along with some subcategory buttons. Tap Maintenance, then Oil Level to view Oil Level information in more detail.
Oil Level will show a line graph with the recommended minimum and maximum marked. Your vehicle's current oil level will show up on the graph along with a Status message, providing suggested actions (if necessary). The Oil Level may display three different Statuses:
- Oil Level Normal: (White fill reading between the Min and Max) The oil level is in the recommended operating range.
- Add Oil: (Red fill reading below the Min mark) The oil level is below the minimum recommended operating range.
- Drain Oil to the Proper Level: (Red graph fill extending above the Max mark) The oil level is above the maximum recommended operating range.
Maintain the proper oil level to protect your engine. If the level is unavailable or you just added oil, park on level ground and idle the engine until the level updates. The system automatically adjusts, eliminating any need to reset it after making adjustments to your oil volume. The reading may take a few moments to update after changes have been made.
