Instrucciones  How to use the Universal Garage Door Opener System

 Program your universal remote to appear as an icon in your center display, replacing up to 8 physical remotes. The Universal Garage Door Opener System works for most new garage door openers as well as certain security systems and home devices.

The process to program a garage door remote or other universal remote is time sensitive. Asegúrate de completar el siguiente paso rápidamente. En ocasiones, es útil contar con la ayuda de una persona para asistirte.


These instructions are for garage door openers, but you can follow similar steps for other compatible devices.

 

1. Estaciona afuera, en frente de tu garaje. El trayecto entre el vehículo y el receptor de la puerta del garaje debe estar despejado.

2. Ten el dispositivo portátil de apertura de la puerta del garaje encima, dentro del vehículo. Asegúrate de que tenga baterías nuevas, para que la señal sea intensa.

3. On your vehicle's center display, tap the Controls, then tap Universal Remotes. Es posible que tengas que presionar "See More Controls" (Ver más controles) para ver el ícono.

a. On some models, you access the Universal Remotes icon from the Controls display in the Front Command Center (if equipped). 

4. Presiona "Add Remote" (Agregar control remoto).

7. Once the signal is found, you can test the universal remote by selecting Test on the screen. You may need to tap Test several times.

If the garage door moves, select It Worked from the prompts on-screen. 

If the garage door did not move, select It Didn’t Work from the prompts on-screen. Continue with the steps for Using the Learn or Smart button. 

 

Using the Learn or Smart button

  1. On some garage door openers, you’ll need to press the Learn or Smart button on the receiver inside the garage (requires a ladder).  
  2. Locate the Learn or Smart button on your receiver (it’s usually near the antenna wire). 
  3. Return directly to your vehicle and press the Test button again. You may need to press it several times. 

 

If the garage door moves, select It Worked from the prompts on-screen. 

If it’s still not working, select It Didn’t Work and repeat steps 1-3. Or you can: 

 

  • Visit the HomeLink website. 
  • Call HomeLink at (800) 355-3515. 
  • Check your Owner’s Manual for other steps recommended to program your remote. 

 

Once a remote is programmed, tap the Pencil icon to rename it so it’s easily findable in the center display.  

Using the garage door opener screen icon

After your Universal Garage Door Opener is programmed, the remote will appear in your center display. Simply tap the icon on the screen to use it. Cuando el vehículo tenga la marcha atrás activada, el ícono aparecerá en la pantalla de la cámara de reversa.

The signal on some garage door openers will time out after several seconds, which might not be long enough to program the Universal Garage Door Opener. In this case, try pressing and releasing the handheld transmitter button every 2 seconds, instead of pressing and holding, until the signal is found.

Can I move my remote icon on the display?

If the location was saved properly, the shortcut icon will show up in the Smart Controls area of the main display when the vehicle returns to the location where you originally programmed the Universal Garage Door Opener remote. 

Can I change the location programmed for my Universal Garage Door Opener?

Yes. You can update the location programmed for a Universal Garage Door Opener. When you're parked at the desired location, tap the Pencil icon next to the remote name and then select Update Location. 

 

Usa este proceso para restablecer la ubicación si no se guardó correctamente con la programación inicial o para establecer una ubicación distinta. Additionally, you can use Update Location if you want the Universal Remotes icon to appear sooner upon approach. For example, setting the location near the end of your driveway instead of using the exact location of your garage door (or other device controlled by the universal remote) will enable the remote icon to appear on-screen earlier as you approach.

Why is my programmed Universal Garage Door Opener suddenly not working?

This might have to do with the Universal Garage Door Opener System's use of radio waves. In certain environments where there's interference with these waves, there could be a lapse in function. If this happens, reposition your vehicle a short distance and try to operate the remote again.
