The Milestone is a First for Electrified Vehicles

  • g+1

DETROIT – Chevrolet Volt reached 100,000 sold in the U.S., a landmark achievement and a no-compromise driving experience for the owners with an estimated 53 miles4 of electric range and a total range of 420 miles between gasoline fill-ups or full recharges. So why is this such a big deal?

"The Chevrolet Volt delivers not just a fun driving experience behind the wheel, but is the first vehicle with electrification technology to truly become mainstream," explained Steve Majoros, Director of Marketing for Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers. He continued, "Not only is Volt a class-creator, it serves as the foundation of a Chevrolet electric vehicle family that will soon add the first affordable long-range electric vehicle available to customers across the U.S., the Chevrolet Bolt EV."

The impact of a 100,000 Chevrolet Volts on American roads is remarkable. Since sales began owners have saved nearly 58 million gallons of gas, driving 1.5 billion of a total 2.5 billion cumulative miles in EV mode.

The second generation Volt takes the pioneering design further with improved gas mileage and additional electric-only range. How much range? Based on Chevrolet data, the average 2017 Volt driver is estimated to get up to 1,000 miles4 between gas fill-ups when they fully charge the car regularly.

Volt also offers available smartphone integration with support for Apple CarPlay™1 and Android Auto™2 with onboard 4G LTE WiFi®3 connection to keep drivers connected and make trips of any length fly by.
