Un equipo. Dos Corvettes. Tres campeonatos.
Este año, Corvette Racing arrasó en la serie American Le Mans en la clase GT basada en la producción. El dúo de Compuware Corvette C6.Rs ganó cuatro carreras y recorrió los cinco tiempos de vuelta más rápidos.
Those four wins, paired with eight more podium appearances, propelled Chevrolet to capture the manufacturers championship. In the No. 4 Corvette C6.R, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner won the GT drivers championship, while Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia finished third in the standings with the No. 3 car.
That impressive showing ultimately secured the ALMS GT team championship for Corvette Racing.
Corvette Racing has won nine ALMS GT team and manufacturers championships, and eight drivers championships since 2001. But this victory is clearly a rapid return to the grandeur that is associated with the Corvette Racing name.
“There may have been some in the sports car racing community who had questions about the capability and resolve of Corvette Racing…” said Doug Fehan, Corvette Racing program manager, “I think 2012 answered those questions conclusively.”
The intense competition, which includes Porsche, BMW and Ferrari, is just a small part of what makes these victories important. Winning on the track comes down to perfecting technology that can be paired with world-class drivers. We race to win - but we also race to make better cars, trucks and crossovers.
Chevy is proud to continue advanced powertrain development to supply the technology that Corvette Racing needs to win and Chevrolet owners need to enjoy their ride every day.
